Examining the Effectiveness of Flourishing Training on Depression and Anxiety among the Students of Tizhooshan Schools

چکیده مقاله:

Background: The purpose of the current research, , was to examine the effectiveness on the basis of positive psychology, in particular, flourishing training on the anxiety and depression among studentsof Tizhooshan schools. Method: This used the pre-test and post-test control group design to achieve the purpose of the research and to determine the effectiveness. The sample of the research consisted of 50 female students of Farzanegan High School in Torbat Heydariyeh. At first, the statistical population, which included all high school students, was scaled (DASS) and 50 people who achieved the highest score in this scale were selected and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups of 25. For the experimental group, flourishing training was performed in 14 sessions of 60 minutes. However, the control group did not receive any treatment at first, at the end of the study, training was conducted for the control group. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 26 through analysis of covariance. Result: The covariance test results showed that due to the meaningfulness of the F value for the anxiety variable (df = 1, f = 206.1, p <0.001) also for the depression variable (df = 1, f = 42.96, p <0.001), the research hypothesis based on the effectiveness of the flourishing training protocol on the anxiety and depression variables is confirmed at the 99% confidence level. Flourishing training reduced anxiety and depression in the experimental group students compared to the control group. Conclusion: The use of positive psychology and especially flourishing education can be effective in reducing anxiety and depression in students and therefore the use of this method is an effective way to reduce psychological distress of students.
