Efficacy of Communication Skills Training on Marital Disturbance

Marital disturbance has a major impact on the quality of marriage couples. One of the most significant personal factors influencing marriage distress is the lack of communication skills among couples. The aim of this research was to determine the impact of training in communication skills on marital disturbance.In this interventional study, The target population was all pairs residing in the marginal regions of Birjand in 2016.Sixty pairs (120) were randomly chosen and split into two intervention groups (30 pairs) and control groups (30 pairs). The data collection instrument consisted of two sections of private information and the Marital Diastolic Questionnaire (CBM) of the Pein.. Educational intervention was conducted for the intervention team in 6 sessions of 120 minutes and the questionnaire was finished before and three months after the intervention for both organizations. Data were analyzed at a significant level of p<0.05 by SPSS18 software, Chi-square, independent t test and paired t test.The intervention groupchr('39')s mean age was 32.27 ± 6.241, and the control groupchr('39')s mean age was 34.85 ± 5.746. In the intervention group the average marriage life of couples was 7.33 ± 5.294 and in the control group was 9.57 ± 5.73.   There was a important distinction between intervention and control groups (p<0.05), mean of marital disturbance modifications, marital distress, and physical and emotional loss (p <0.05).Training in communication skills can significantly reduce marriage distress and its dimensions, including physical, emotional and mental retardation among couples living in the periphery of the town.
