Comparing the Effectiveness of the Non- Soft Training Package of Working Memory and Selective Attention With Captain’s Log Cognitive Empowerment Software Package on the Components of the Working Memory in Girls With Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Background and Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of the non-computerized training package of working memory (WM) and selective attention with captain’s Log software on the components of WM. Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted in a quasi-experimental design, with non- random targeted sampling, and pre-test, post-test, follow-up, and control groups. A sample of 150 cases aged 13 to15 years diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) referred to neurology clinics was selected and randomly divided into two case groups (each group, 15 subjects) and one control group (15 subjects). The non- computerized package was performed in 15 sessions (one hour each) for four weeks in the first case group and the computerized package in 15 sessions (45 minutes each) for 4 weeks in the second case group, while the control group did not receive any training. All WM components were examine in the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up (3 months after post-test) sessions in each of the three groups. Results: The repeated measures ANOVA statistical analysis indicated a significant difference in the mean score of the components of WM in the first case group compared to the second case group and the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The non- computerized package of WM and selective attention were significantly more effective on the WM components than the captainchr('39')s Log computerized package.
