ظرفیت¬باربری در شالوده¬های سطحی یکی از مهمترین عوامل تأثیرگذار در طراحی سازه¬های واقع بر آن¬ها می¬باشد. برای بهبود ظرفیت¬باربری شالوده¬های سطحی، می¬توان از روش مسلح¬سازی با به¬کار بردن نوارهای مسلح¬کننده درون خاک زیر شالوده استفاده نمود. برای محاسبه ظرفیت¬باربری شالوده¬های سطحی واقع بر خاک ماسه¬ای مسلح می¬توان از روش آزمایشگاهی یا عددی استفاده کرد. هدف از این تحقیق بررسی اثر ژئوگریدها و مشخصات هندسی آن¬ها در ظرفیت¬باربری پی نواری واقع بر شیروانی است. جهت انجام تحلیل¬ها از تحلیل عددی به دو روش المان محدود و تفاضل محدود استفاده شده است.برای این منظور ظرفیت¬باربری پی نواری واقع بر خاک مسلح به ژئوگرید را برای پارامترهای مختلف هندسی از جمله ضخامت لایه ماسه¬ی جایگزین شده (برای حالت شیروانی رسی)، تعداد ژئوگریدها، فاصله¬ی بالاترین ژئوگرید تا کف زیر شالوده، فاصله بین ژئوگریدها، طول ژئوگرید ، بررسی نموده و با تعیین مقدار بهینه هر کدام از پارامتر¬ها می¬توان بهترین استفاده را از ژئوگرید به عنوان مسلح کننده کرد و ظرفیت¬باربری را تا جایی که امکان دارد افزایش داد. در تمامی این حالات از پارامترهای بدون بعد استفاده می¬شود و تمام این متغیرهای نسبت به بعد پی اندازه-گیری می¬شود و همچنین برای بررسی ظرفیت¬باربری از پارامتر بدون بعد bcru که به صورت نسبت ظرفیت¬باربری نهایی خاک مسلح در برابر ظرفیت¬باربری نهایی خاک غیر مسلح استفاده می¬شود.
