بلخ یکی از خاستگاه‌های ادبیات پارسی نو است. ازاین‌رو، در زبان پارسی نو، شماری از واژه‌ها از زبان بلخی وام گرفته شده‌‌اند. این واژه‌ها را می‌توان به دو دسته بخش کرد. دستۀ نخست واژه‌هایی که در آن‌ها d ایرانی باستان به l تبدیل شده‌‌اند و شمارشان بیش‌تر است؛ دستۀ دوم واژه‌هایی که این دگرگونی آوایی در آن‌ها صورت نگرفته است.
