In this paper, the needle penetrometer test was utilized to explore the reliability of the Needle Penetration Index (NPI) for estimating the Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) of sedimentary rocks including gypsum, marl, siltstone and sandstone collected from the Qom Formation.
