Three Dimensional Transient Numerical Modeling of Temperature Distribution and Output Power in Photovoltaic Module

Authors

Abstract:

According to the effect of temperature on the output power of a photovoltaic module, this research tries to calculate the temperature distribution in a photovoltaic module by numerical solving of the energy balance equations. Therefore, its output power can be accurately predicted. For this purpose, several photovoltaic modules are modeled in detail in the COMSOL software. A new method for calculating power output as a function of the PV modules temperature is also presented to solve with thermal equations simultaneously. Different layers of PV module are considered separately in the present three dimensional and transient models. Effect of different correlations for heat convection in the temperature distribution and output power has also been studied. Results show that the above features lead to accurate prediction of temperature distribution and therefore performance of the PV module.

Numerical Prediction of Temperature Distribution in Transient RTM Process

Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a composite manufacturing process. A preformed fiber is placed in a closed mold and a viscous resin is injected into the mold. In this paper, a model is developed to predict the flow pattern, extent of reaction and temperature change during filling and curing in a thin rectangular mold. A numerical simulation is presented to predict the free surface and...

Three-dimensional numerical simulation of temperature and flow fields in a Czochralski growth of germanium

For a Czochralski growth of Ge crystal, thermal fields have been analysed numerically using the three-dimensional finite volume method (FLUENT package). The arrangement used in a real Czochralski crystal growth lab included a graphite crucible, heat shield, heating device, thermal insulation and chamber including two gas outlets. We have considered two cases for calculations, which are configur...

Three-dimensional numerical modeling of score hole in rectangular side weir with finite volume method

Local scouring in the downstream of hydraulic structures is one of the important issues in river and hydraulic engineering, which involves a lot of costs every year, so the prediction of the rate of scour is important in hydraulic design. Side weirs are the most important of hydraulic structures that are used in passing flow. This study investigate the scouring due to falling jet from side weir...
