Abstract:

In the present research, the effect of the homogenization process and annealing temperature were investigated for the 1.4470 ferritic-austenitic stainless steel in the as-cast condition. In this regard, microstructural evolutions, hardness, and impact energy of the steel was evaluated with different heat treatment conditions. The results show that the minimum volume fraction of austenite phase (about 42%) was formed in as-cast condition; while the maximum content of austenite phase can be achieved by annealing at 1010 °C for 45 min. without the homogenizing process (about 56%). Moreover, a good combination of impact energy and hardness was obtained by homogenizing at 1120°C/45 min. and subsequent annealing at 1010°C/15 min. followed by oil quenching. In this condition, the same volume fraction of the ferrite and austenite phase has been formed in the microstructure. and subsequent annealing at 1010°C/15 min. followed by oil quenching. In this condition, the same volume fraction of the ferrite and austenite phase has been formed in the microstructure.

Effect of annealing process on microstructure and mechanical properties of high manganese austenitic TWIP steel

In the present study, the influence of annealing temperature on mechanical properties and the microstructure of a high manganese austenitic steel (Fe-30Mn-4Al-4Si-0.5C) was investigated. X-ray diffractometry, optical and scanning electron microscopy, hardness and tensile tests were used to analyze the relationship between mechanical properties and microstructure after annealing process. The res...

Effect of Thermomechanical Processing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex stainless steels (DSSS) have a microstructure composed of ferrite and austenite phases that gives them a very good combination of mechanical and corrosion properties. These steels are desirable for many applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In the present study, a type of stainless steel was cast, solution annealed at 1200°C for 60 min and then quenched in water. Ini...

Influence of Cu and Ni on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of an HSLA Steel

In this research the role of alloying elements on the microstructure and mechanical properties of an as cast and hot rolled high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel was studied. Different compositions with different amount of copper in the presence of nickel, hot rolled and quenched in oil. Tensile test, hardness test, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical microscope (OM) were used to eval...

on translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels

phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...
