Abstract:

Aims: Obesity is associated with cardiovascular disease. Today, changing childhood lifestyle may affect on cardiovascular diseases factors. The goal of this research was to determine the evaluation of changes in lipid profiles, insulin resistance and serum FGF21 following three types of exercise training in sedentary obese children. Materials and Methods: Sixty obese boys 8-12 years old with z-score above =2 were selected purposefully and randomly distribute into four groups as follows: endurance exercise training (EET), resistance exercise training (RET), combined exercise training (CET), and control (C). Exercise training protocol were done for eight weeks, 4 times per week. Intensity and duration of exercise trainings in experience groups was same together. Blood samples were taken 24 hours before and 48 hours after exercise training protocol. Data was analyzed by ANCOVA by the use of SPSS software (version 21). A significant level of 0.05 was considered. Findings: Results showed that three types of exercise training significantly decreased TC, TG, LDL, VLDL, and insulin resistance (F=3.04, F=2.98, F=4.33, F=5.44, F=4.86, F=5.58, respectively). Also, findings presented that increase HDL and FGF21 in training groups compared to control (F=3.28, F=2.45, respectively). Statistically, in all of the studied variables, endurance and combined training methods compared to resistance training method had most effective on improving metabolic cardiovascular risk factors. Conclusion: In general, applied exercise training methods in this study, especially endurance EET can be considered as a suitable and non-medication processes to reduce and suppression the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and disorders related to obesity in childhood.
