The effects of foot massage on physiologic indicators in critically ill patients
Authors
Abstract:
The perpuse of this research is to determine the effect of foot massage on physiologic indicators including pulse, respiration and mean arterial pressure. The hypothesis of this research is that foot massage decreases the patient´s heart rate, respiratory rate and mean arterial pressure. This research is a quasiexperimental study and a self-control clinical trial with repeated measures in witch 46 patients with brain stroke that hospitalized in intensive care unit of Tajrish Shohada hospital are studied. Using instruments include a sthetoscope and a sphygmomanometer that sphygmomanometer was calibrated before begeaning the work. Information was collected at 4 to 6 pm. For this perpuse the physiologic indicators were controlled and after 10 minute, the samples were undergoing five minute stroke foot massage, and then in 10 and 30 minute intervals physiologic indicators were controlled again. Data were analyzed with repeated measures ANOVA statistical method. Findings showed that pulse rate, respiratory rate and mean arterial pressure significantly decrease after five minute foot massage (p

effect of foot massage on physiologic indicators in critically ill patients admitted in the i.c.u
introduction: intensive care unit is one of the most stressful wards for patients and it is estimated that 30 to70 percent of patients experience severe physiologic stress during admission. some of the physiologic responses to stress include increase in metabolic rate with consequent increase in body temperature, increase in cardiac output and contraction power and subsequently increase in bloo...
full textthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Effects of Pantoprazole on Systemic and Gastric Pro- and Anti-inflammatory Cytokines in Critically Ill Patients
Stress-related mucosal damage (SRMD) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients due to the gastrointestinal blood loss. Prophylaxis of SRMD with proton pump inhibitors or histamine-2 blockers has gained widespread use in intensive care units. Both demonstrated to be effective in reducing clinically significant bleedings, while PPIs has shown to exert some anti ...

full textMetformin Treatment in Hyperglycemic Critically Ill Patients: Another Challenge on the Control of Adverse Outcomes
New-onset hyperglycemia in patients admitted to intensive care units increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. Insulin resistance is frequently seen in the treatment of stress-induced hyperglycemia. Metformin, an oral anti-hyperglycemic agent, may introduce a new treatment protocol in critically ill patients with insulin-resistance hyperglycemia. Fifty-one non-diabetic traumatized patients...
