The Effectiveness of Yoga Exercise on the Happiness and Psychological Health of Primary School Children

Abstract:

Introduction: Lack of happiness and mental disorder are the most important issues in all aspects of life among humans in the next years. One of the ways to overcome disorders and bring happiness and, consequently, mental health is yoga exercise. Therefore, the purpose of this study was The Effectiveness of Yoga Exercises on the Happiness and Psychological Health of Primary School Children in Shahrebabak. Method: The present study is a quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test and control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all primary school children of Shahr-e Babak city in 2019. Sixty people were selected by the available sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Oxford Happiness (OHI) and Child Psychological Health Assessment (PSC) Questionnaires were administered to both groups. After the intervention, both groups completed the above questionnaires as a posttest. Data were analyzed using covariance analysis. Results: The results showed that yoga exercise significantly increases the happiness and psychological health of primary school children (P<0.001). Conclusion: Due to the effectiveness of yoga, it is recommended to be used to improve the mental health and happiness of children.
