The effectiveness of Family-focus problem-solving training on reducing the negative effects of social distance caused by Covid-19 in the family of nurses of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: The prevalence of coronavirus and the psychological consequences of the social distancing scheme is one of the most important human social events in the 21st century that nurses' families are facing the psychological consequences. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of problem-based family therapy on reducing the negative effects of social distance caused by Covid-19 in the families of nurses of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: The research method is quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. From the statistical population, 100 people and the equivalent of 40 families were selected based on purposive random sampling. First, pre-test was performed in two experimental and control groups and then the experimental group was taught virtual problem-solving family therapy in 10 two-hour sessions. At the end, post-test was performed on both groups. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. Results: The results show that problem-based family therapy training on marital conflict (P <0.001, F = 35.00); Anxiety (P <0.001, F = 37.50) and fear (P <0.001, F = 46.01) were effective in nurses. Conclusion: According to the obtained results, it is suggested that during the outbreak of emerging and epidemic diseases, in order to reduce the psychological effects of the social distancing plan, family therapy problem-solving training should be given more attention by managers and officials of the Ministry of Health. .keywords: Family-focus problem-solving training, social distance, corona virus, Nurses' families
