The effectiveness of combining group counseling based on commitment and acceptance with reality therapy on cognitive emotion regulation and self-efficacy strategies in infertile women

Introduction: Infertility is one of the most important issues in the field of medicine and psychology, about which many studies and related physiological and psychological variables have been performed in infertile people. Therefore, the aim of this study was the effectiveness of combining group counseling based on commitment and acceptance with reality therapy on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and self-efficacy in infertile women. Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental based on which the subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group and then an experimental operation was performed. Questionnaires of emotion regulation strategies and self-efficacy were used in pre-test and post-test. The statistical population of the present study was all infertile women in Shiraz who had referred to one of the infertility clinics and treatment centers in Shiraz in a period of three months (summer 1398). Among infertile women referred, 30 were selected by convenience sampling. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods such as analysis of covariance were used to compare the means of the experimental and control groups. Results: The results showed that the combination of group counseling based on commitment and acceptance with reality therapy has a positive and significant effect on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and self-efficacy in infertile women (P <0.05). Conclusion: Therefore, based on the present findings, it can be said that to improve the level of self-efficacy and cognitive regulation of infertile women, using a combination of therapy based on acceptance, commitment and reality therapy is very useful and practical. And is suggested.
