The effect of rehabilitation plan on fatigue in hemodialysis patients

Abstract:

Introduction: Fatigue is one of the most common problems in hemodialysis patients, which according to it is very important in nursing. This study aimed to determine the effect of rehabilitation plan on fatique in hemodialysis patients. Methods: This study is Quasi-experimental study that in that Pretest-posttest plan with control group was used. 40 patients were selected Based on inclusion criteria and purposive sampling method and randomly divided into two groups of experimental and control by using a table of random numbers. For the intervention group, a rehabilitation program including foot massage during hemodialysis for 10 minutes in 12 sessions during hemodialysis for one month, with daily activity training, dietary training and medications with the presence of the family of the patient. Patient filled The Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI-20) before and one month after intervention. SPSS statistical software SPSS19 data using chi-square, Fisher's exact test, and independent t-test and paired T was performed. Results: Results showed that no different between two groups of intervention and control about demographic characteristics. The mean fatigue Score was 56.68 ± 5.54 in intervention group, and 55.72 ± 4.52 in the control group before intervention, which respectively reached to 49.25 ± 4.26 and 55.11 ± 4.66 after implementation of the intervention and this difference was Significant in intervention group (P ≤ 0.001). Conclusions: According to the results we can say that rehabilitation plan is effective in reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients. So it can be applied method of this study as a simple, non-invasive, low-cost and effective in reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients to nurses suggests
