The effect of perfectionism-focused cognitive, emotional and behavioral education on the quality of interpersonal communication, self-esteem and psychological well-being of gifted school students

The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral education focusing on perfectionism in the quality of interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and psychological well-being of gifted high school students. This research was applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental research with a pre-test-post-test design and control group in terms of the data collection method. The statistical population includes all perfectionist students of gifted high schools in Lorestan province in the academic year 2020-2021. 30 participants were selected by purposive sampling and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. research tools included Frost et al. (2011) Perfectionism Questionnaire (MPS), Pierce et al. (1991) (QRI), Rosenberg Self-Esteem (1965) (RSE), and Reef (1989) Psychological Well-Being (SPWB). Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for data analysis. The results showed that the designed cognitive, emotional, and behavioral intervention had a significant effect on improving interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and psychological wellbeing (0.001). The results showed that the designed intervention in this study, which was based on the characteristics of perfectionists, can be used by school psychologists and counselors.
