Abstract:

Aims: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease, frequently reported in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training and probiotic consumption on the gene expression of interleukin-10 and interferon-gamma of gut tissue in animal model of fatty liver. Methods & Materials: In this experimental study, 40 rats (weighing 200-250 gr) were selected and randomly divided into 5 groups including healthy control, fatty liver, fatty liver + HIIT, fatty liver + probiotic and fatty liver + HIIT + probiotic group. Rats were infected with fatty liver by oral tetracycline at a dose of 140 mg/kg (soluble in 2 ml of water) for 7 days. The HIIT performed on treadmill five sessions per week for 5 weeks. Data were analyzed by One-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc tests at the P<0.05. Findings: The results showed that interleukin-10 and interferon-gamma gene expression was significantly higher in fatty liver group than the healthy control group (p=0.001). high-intensity interval training and probiotic consumption led to significant decrease in the expression of interleukin-10 and interferon-gamma than the fatty liver group (p=0.001). Conclusion: According to the results, intervention of high-intensity interval training and probiotic consumption can help modulate the expression of genes involved in the innate immune system of fatty liver-induced intestinal tissue.

Effect of High Intensity Interval Training on FTO Gene Expression in Subcutaneous Fatty Tissue of Diabetic Wistar Rats

Background: Fat mass and obesity-associated gene (FTO) is directly associated with increased risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on FTO expression of subcutaneous fat tissue in T2DM rats. Methods: In this experimental study, twelve males Wistar rats (220±10 g) with T2...

Effect of eight weeks of high intensity interval training and crocin consumption on the apoptotic genes expression in the liver tissue of male rats under chronic doxorubicin induction

Background and Aims: The use of doxorubicin (Dox) in chemotherapy has irreversible effects on liver tissue. The role of physical activities and antioxidants consumption has not yet been fully understood in the mechanism of apoptosis induced by Dox. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and crocin consumption on liver tissue apopt...
