The Effect of Corrective Exercises Using Thera-Band on Components of Ground Reaction Force in Boy Students with Genu Valgum during Running: A Clinical Trial Study
Authors
Abstract:
Background and Objectives: Knee joint, like other joints in the body, is affected by defects, injuries and diseases. Genu valgum is one of the most common lower limb complications. The purpose of the present study was to determine the effects of corrective exercises using Thera-Band on components of ground reaction force in boy students with genu valgum during running. Materials and Methods: The present study was a clinical trial. 24 male students (20-30 years old) were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. The present study was conducted at University of Mohaghegh Ardabili Health and Wellness Center in 2019. Corrective exercises were performed for 8 weeks using Thera-band for the experimental group. The control group did not receive any treatment intervention during this period. The ground reaction forces were recorded by a force plate. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The results of this study showed a significant difference in the time to peak in the vertical direction during the push off phase of the experimental group (5.17%) (p=0.030, d=0.589). In the experimental group, the other components of ground reaction forces did not demonstrate any significant effect during post-test than that in the pre-test (p>0.05). Conclusion: The selected corrective exercises using the Thera-band were able to increase the time to peak of the vertical force during the push off phase during the post-test compared to the pre-test. This increase was probably due to the longer contact of foot with the surface, which reduces the amount of force applied to the foot. Key words: Corrective exercises, Thera-band, Ground reaction forces, Genu valgum, Running Funding: This study was funded by University of Mohaghegh Ardabili. Conflict of interest: None declared. Ethical approval: The Ethics Committee of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences approved the study (IR-ARUMS-REC-1397-091). The effect of corrective exercise on walking ground reaction force components in children with genu varus
Genu varus is one of the malalignment of the lower limbs, the failure to correct it leads to secondary abnormalities in adulthood. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a corrective exercise program on ground reaction forces, loading rates, impulses and free moment during stance phase of walking. 17 children with genu varus were volunteered to participate in this study (Ag...

Introduction: Running poses an essential role in maintaining cardiovascular health. However, it has been demonstrated that 2.5 to 38 injuries per 1,000 hours of running can occur. The purpose of this study was to investigate ground reaction forces components during running with running shoes compared to control shoes in individuals with genu varum. Methods: This study was laboratory and semi-e...

15 صفحه اولThe Effect of Long-Term Use of Motion Control Shoes on the Ground Reaction Force Components during Running in Runners with Excessive Pronated Feet
Introduction: Most of the functional disorders in the foot are created by changes in the arch of the foot. The motion control shoes are designed to control the excessive rear foot motions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of long-term use of motion control shoe on the ground reaction force components in individuals with functional pronated feet during running. Methods: The prese...

Introduction: 24-67% of recreational runners suffer from running-related injuries. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of unstable shoes on selected ground reaction force (GRF) parameters during stance phase of running. Method: 20 healthy men (age of 21±2.27 years, height of 176.93±5.39 cm, and mass of 72.30±8.84 kg) ran on the force plate placed in the middle of 15 m runway in ba...
