New records of Colletotrichum species for the mycobiota of Iran

Sixteen isolates of Colletotrichum were collected from leaves with anthracnose symptoms or leaf spots of twelve wild, cultivated and ornamental plant species from the Guilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan provinces in Northern Iran. Five different species, including C. aenigma, C. gigasporum, C. godetiae, C. karstii, and C. musae were identified based on the DNA sequence data (TUB2, GS, GAPDH). Four...

Fomitiporia mediterranea, a new basidiomycete species for mycobiota of Iran

During last decade, the decline of elm trees was observed in Fars province (Iran) due to a wood decaying agent in heartwood of the trees. Unknown basidiomycete isolates were frequently isolated from such trees. The objective of the present study was to identify the basidiomycete isolates by molecular phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacers of ribosomal DNA. For this purpose, i...

Two new records of Lopadostoma for mycobiota of Iran

Xylariaceous fungi are typically saprobes, but are also commonly isolated as endophytes and some species are pathogens. Two species of Lopadostoma (Xylariaceae, Xylariales) are reported for the first time from Iran. L. dryophilum was found from dead branches of Quercus sp. in East Azerbaiejan and L. fagi from dead branches of Fagus sp. in Ardabil province. Based on morphology and sequence data ...
