Abstract:

Fisheries Department, Faculty of Natural Resources, University of Guilan, Sowmeh Sara,1144, Iran ABSTRACT This study was conducted the effect of stress on blood glucose and cortisol levels in cultured great sturgeon. Blood sampling was done and then water level decreased to the half in experimental tanks. The fish were exposed in that situation and second blood sampling was taken after 6 hours. Glucose and cortisol concentrations were measured by glucose oxidase method and Radioimmunoassay (RIA), respectively. The results showed that average of cortisol concentration reached from 10.8 ? 3.3 to 14.6 ? 9.0 ng ml-1 (P

Letter to the Editor: Applications Air Q Model on Estimate Health Effects Exposure to Air Pollutants

Epidemiologic studies in worldwide have measured increases in mortality and morbidity associated with air pollution (1-3). Quantifying the effects of air pollution on the human health in urban area causes an increasingly critical component in policy discussion (4-6). Air Q model was proved to be a valid and reliable tool to predicts health effects related to criteria  pollutants (particula...

Effect of sub acute exposure of nano Zinc particles on oxidative stress parameters in rats

BACKGROUND: Zinc (Zn) is one of the most important essential elements in the body of animals and plants. Zinc plays a significant role in the structure of more than 300 different proteins and in many life supporting biochemical and metabolic processes such as cellular respiration and protection against free radicals. Nanoparticles of zinc are the new form of Zinc used in cosmetic and personal c...

Study on the effects of stocking density of eggs and larvae on the survival and frequency of morphological deformities in Persian sturgeon, great sturgeon and stellate sturgeon

The effects of stocking density of eggs and larvae were studied related to the morphological deformities appearance, percentage of survival, and growth rate, in order to achieve the most suitable stocking density for eggs and larvae in incubators and rearing tanks. The egg stocking densities were 500, 700 and 900 g per incubator for great sturgeon, 500 and 1000g per incubator for Persian sturge...
