Review of Therapeutic Candidates for the New Coronavirus disease (COVID19)

Abstract:
Background: COVID-19 infectious disease caused by the sever acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) occurred in late November 2019 in Wuhan, China and has become a worldwide health crisis. The World Health Organization has identified COVID-19 as a public health priority of international concern. This is because the epidemic has become a pandemic and there is no effective antiviral drug or vaccine to fight it. The purpose of this study was to review the drugs studied to combat the disease and its characteristics. Methods: The present study is a validity review study that searches through valid scientific databases such as Scopus, Google scholar, PubMed using keywords such as virus, Corona, COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, latest treatment the information obtained. Results: Finding a broad spectrum of inhibitors that can reduce the effects of human coronavirus infection is a challenging research. Given the time-consuming nature of the development and registration of antiviral drugs, treatments available for other diseases may be the single and quickest treatment option for emerging infectious diseases. Currently, broad spectrum drugs such as bevacizumab, methylprednisolone, fingolimod, lopinavir, ritonavir, chloroquine phosphate, remedicivir, and favipiravir are being studied in various clinical trials as therapeutic candidates. Conclusion: Use of all these drugs in turn can have significant efficacy in the fight against this disease. It should be noted, however, that none of these drugs are COVID19 specific drugs, efforts to find a specific drug for this disease should be sustained until the definitive drug is obtained.
