Relationship between fingerprint dermatoglyphics in association with suceptibility to myocardial infarction in man
Authors
Abstract:
coronary heart diseases is one of the major causes of mortality, and family history is one of the major risk factors.fingerprint tupes are unique genetically based characteristic for each indivdual.in this study fingerprints of 100 ml patients (test) in CCU departments were compared to 100 patients from other hospital wards (control) who had no history of MI. the mean weight of test group was 64.60 kg with standard deviation(SD) of 10.72 and the mean weight of control group was 58.47 kg with SD of 9.63. electrocardiography indicates that Q wave type of MI group contains 92 cases but nonQ wave types were only 8 cases.results indicated that loop type dermatoglyphic of fingerprint compared with whorl and arch types were more associated with MI(p<0.001).we can conclude from the results that probably loop type FP could be considered as a risk factor for MI.
