Abstract:

The nanostructured anatase TiO2 with high thermal stability was prepared by polymeric sol-gel method without any additives. The particle size distribution of polymeric titania sol was determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS). Then properties of obtained titania were investigated by TG-DTA, XRD, FESEM and TEM. Also, the decolorization capability of resultant anatase was evaluated using methyl orange degradation in aqueous solution by UV–visible spectrophotometer. The results of DLS showed that the particle size distribution of the polymeric sol, after 1 and 50 days is in the range of 0.5-2 and 1-3 nm, respectively. The polymeric gel calcined at different temperatures resulted crystalline structure of anatase that showed high thermal stability against phase transformation up to 750 °C. Also, crystallite size of anatase calcined at 400-750 °C was in the range of 10-50 nm. The prepared nanostructured anatase in this research showed a significant decolorization capability for methyl orange degradation.

Photodegradation of reactive red 222 using TiO2 nanostructured thin films prepared by modified sol-gel method

In this paper, a modified sol-gel method using peroxotitanic acid sol (PTA) was applied for the preparation of TiO2 nanostructured thin films on glass plates. The peroxotitanic acid sol was synthesized using titanium isopropoxide, isopropylalchol, H2O and hydrogen peroxide. TiO2 films were then calcined at 500oC and characterized by X-ray diffraction ...

Preparation and Characterization of ZrO2/TiO2 Nanocomposite under Ultrasonic Irradiation by Sol-gel Route

TiO2/ZrO2 nanocomposite was obtained by the sonochemical technique. In this method, two separate gels containing zirconium and titanium were prepared and mixed together. The precursor sol of zirconium was prepared from an aqueous solution of ZrCl4. The precursor titanium tetra isopropoxide (TTIP) dissolved in isopropanol. Mixing of Titanium and Zirconium gels was resulted in a yellow TiO2/ZrO2 ...

Kinetics of photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue on nanostructured TiO2 coatings created by sol-gel process

Sol-gel process was chosen to produce a photocatalytic film to degrade methylene blue. In order to study structural and morphological properties of the coatings, a base sol of TTIP, I-PrOH, and DEA was prepared. Then with addition of 45g/L PEG 2000, 30g/L TiO2 and 15g/L PEG 2000 + 30g/L TiO2, to the base sol, three other sols were produced. The results of this study indica...
