Investigating and Modeling the Impact of Social Capital on the job Burnout of Environmental Health Workers by Investigating the Mediator of Organizational Commitment (Case Study: Environmental Health Unit Staff in Qom Health Centers)

Abstract:

Background and aim: Job burnout is one of the critical and influential factors in personal behavior and organizational performance. There are many factors affecting job burnout and improving it. Social capital and organizational commitment are some of these factors. The present study investigates the effect of social capital and organizational commitment on job burnout of health workers in Qom health centers. Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in 2019 with the participation of 384 environmental health workers of Qom health centers. The sample size was determined using Cochran's formula. Sampling was by cluster random sampling method. Standard questionnaires of social capital, organizational commitment and job burnout were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23, software and LISREL version 32 software. Results: According to the data, the effect of social capital on job burnout (r = -0.37), the effect of social capital on organizational commitment (r = 0.66) and the effect of organizational commitment on job burnout (r = -0.48) were significant. Conclusion: Social capital and organizational commitment are effective in reducing the job burnout of participants. Therefore, in order to reduce employee burnout, specific planning should be done to improve social capital and their commitment.
