Abstract:

Silica aerogels are porous and extremely lightweight nano-materials shows interesting properties. These materials, because of biocompatibility, non-harmful to the body and special physical characteristics such as large surface area and low density have great potential for use in a drug delivery system (DDS). The focus of this study is the evaluation of the effects of silica aerogels on improving the release rate of Ketoprofen as a relevant model drug of poorly soluble drugs in water. The in-vitro release rate of a conventional crystalline form of pure drug and three samples of drug loaded silica aerogels with different densities, 0.033, 0.080, and 0.24 g/cm3 were measured and investigated. The results show that all three samples of silica aerogels considerably increased (p

Physicochemical evaluation, study of stability and drug release kinetics from

Introduction: Acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit of the skin and can present as non inflammatory and or inflammatory lesions. Tretinoin has been used therapeutically for over three decades. It is best known for its comedolytic effects on acne. It also inhibits comedone rupture, thus decreasing inflammatory events. Tretinoin is available in 0.01% to 0.1% as cream, gel or lotion. The ...

Magnetic Nanoporous Silica as Carriers for Ibuprofen: Adsorption and Release Study

A carrier system based on nanoporous silica (SBA-15) with magnetic nanoparticles of CoFe2O4 was synthesized via the impregnation of cobalt salt, iron salt and citric acid with as-synthesized SBA-15. The obtained samples were characterized by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), N2 adsorption/desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and ultraviolet (UV)...

Drug release rate and kinetic investigation of composite polymeric nanofibers

Objective(s): In this work, electrospun nanofibers were explored as drug delivery vehicles using tetracycline as a model drug.  Nanocomposite fibers including chitosan (CS)/poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and antibiotic were successfully prepared using electrospinning. CS blended with PEO considering a weight ratio of (90/10), and then, nanofibrous samples were successfully e...

Kinetic and thermodynamics analysis: effect of eudragit polymer as drug release controller in electrospun nanofibers

The purpose of the present study was investigating kinetic and thermodynamic analysis using eudragit (EUD) polymer as controller to drug release mebendazole. nanofibers containing various proportions of EUD polymer, that were prepared with electrospinning technique.  In this study, the amount of drug mebendazole release was investigated using nanofibers containing EUD at concentrations 50, 250,...
