Improving Physiological Quality of Cut Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa cv. Single) Flowers by Continues Treatment with Humic Acid and Nano-Silver Particles
Authors
Abstract:
Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) is an important commercial cut flower that has a short vase life. An experiment was carried out by using five different levels of humic acid (HA) (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg L-1) and seven different levels of silver nano-particles (SNP) (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mg L-1) mixed with 1.5% sucrose on cut tuberosa cv. Single flower. The loss of fresh weight on third and sixth days in 25 mg L-1 HA+1.5% sucrose, 50 mg L-1 HA +1.5% sucrose and 75 mg L-1 HA+1.5% sucrose was less compared to other treatments. Also HA decreased lipid peroxidation. Silver nano-particles increased the water uptake, fresh weight, total protein, and declined lipid peroxidation compared to the control. Results showed that suitable levels of HA and SNP lead to better morphological and physiological properties and increase the vase life of cut Tuberose flower.

full textEffects of Nano-Silver and Sucrose applications on Cut Flower Longevity and Quality of Tuberose (Polianthus tuberosa)
Tuberose (Polianthus tuberosa) is a commercially important cut flower; but its longevity and quality characteristics are compromised by stress during storage and transportation. Thus, it is important to determine the most appropriate preservative solution to best maintained cut flowers. Tests were done to examine the effects on of nano-silver (NS) (0, 15, 30 and 45 mg L-1) and sucrose (0, 4 and...

full textEvaluation of Physiological Responses of Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) to Water Deficit Stress
Water stress is one of the main factors of severe damage and limitation of plant production in Iran. The paper reports a pot experiment conducted by using a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications (each replication composed of four pots) to compare the physiological and biochemical characteristics of two varieties of tuberose (double- and single-flow...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Nano-silver (NS), calcium chloride (CaCl2) and their combinations on Gerbera jamesonii ‘Carambole’ cut flowers. The experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design (CRD) with 10 treatments and four replications, with three flowers in each replication. Treatments consisted of 5 mg L-1 NS, 1% and 2% CaCl2, 5 mg L-1 NS+ 1% CaCl2, ...

Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) is one of the most important cut flowers in Iran. This research was conducted to investigate the effects of spraying a mixture of amino acids on the physiological and morphological characteristics of tuberose. The experiment was carried out in two successive years (2009 and 2010) using two tuberose cultivars ‘Dezfuli’ and ‘Mahallati’. The experiment was arrange...
