Impact of implementing knowledge management project on organizational culture: case study in a medical university

Abstract:
Organizational culture has a significant influence on the success of organizations. Culture determines the kinds of responses that the organization makes to required changes and will make to new problems. It can help predict how well the organization will deal with change. One of these changes is a knowledge management project. Knowledge is viewed as a driver in the definition and development of an organizational strategy and a key determinant of sustainable organizational competitiveness. The aim of this project is to develop a quantitative model for organizational culture analysis to evaluate the impact of implementing knowledge management projects on organizational culture. It is designed as a practical instrument for the exploration of organizational culture and the management of change based upon a profile model. This paper covers the empirical work in two phases: qualitative and quantitative approaches. In the first phase, six experts were selected. Using thematic analysis, concepts that are related to organizational culture are examined. Kendall's coefficient of concordance indicator utilized to assess the degree of consensus. The second phase is established to evaluate the environment characteristic with regard to the previous study. The statistical society of research was administrators and staff of a medical University (Iran, Khorasan state). The behavior questionnaire related to the dimensions of organizational culture has been produced on the basis of the scale of Likert. Spss 21 is used for data analysis. The model is tested for validity to show that a construct is more strongly related to its own measures.
