Abstract:

1, 8-Dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives have efficiently been synthesized from dimedone and aromatic aldehydes using [Fe(III)(salen)Cl] complex as an efficient and homogeneous catalyst in molten tetrabutyl ammonium bromide. This methodology offers several advantages, such as good yields, short reaction times, simple procedure, and mild conditions.

Synthesis of new 1, 8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives containing 4-thiazolidinone moiety containing 4-thiazolidinone moiety

A series of novel 1, 8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives containing 4-thiazolidinone framework (4a-f) were synthesized through a four-step reaction starting from the reduction of nitro derivatives of 1, 8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes. The resulting aminoxanthenes converted to thiourea derivatives via their reaction with methyl isothiocyanate. The final products were synthesized through the re...

Clean synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives using NBS as an efficient and almost neutral catalyst in aqueous media

An efficient one-pot condensation for the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene is  achieved through a condensation of aryl aldehydes and 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexandione in the presence of  NBS. This method enjoys several advantages such as low cost, simple work up procedure and safe reaction condition. In addition, water was chosen as a green solvent.

Introduction of two efficient catalysts for the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives in the absence of solvent

1,3-Dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (DBH) and benzyltriphenylphosphoniumtribromide (BTPTB) were used as efficient catalysts for the promotion of the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives (DOXOs) via a one-pot three component condensation of aldehydes and cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in the absence of solvent.
