Experimental Investigation of Bed Variations due to Circular Culvert Jet with Different Angles
Authors
Abstract:
Downfall flows from different outlet hydraulic structures such as culverts and jetsthrowingtothe erodible downstream bed cause scour hole and changes in the downstream bed topography. Therefore,by performing some physical modeling tests on culvert jet flow under different angles, changes in the downstream bed topography under the effect of different parameters such as flow rate, depth of the tail water and the important factor of falling jet angle of the culvert were studiedin this paper.Water jet was modeledusing a plastic pipe with a circular section throwing on a Silica bed material with a uniform grading in three different culvert angles of80, 90 and 100 degreesrelative to the vertical axis. The results showed that by increasing thejet angle from 80 to 100 degrees, depth of the scour hole increasedand the place where the maximum scour holedepth occurs changed. Besides, by usingthe Non-dimensional Analysis, a relationship for measuring the maximum depth ofthe scour hole and maximum height of the scour mound was presented in this paper.

Modelling Dispersion Characteristics of Circular Optical Waveguide with Helical Winding– Comparison for Different Pitch Angles
In this Article dispersion characteristic of conventional optical waveguide with helical winding at core – cladding interface has been obtained. The model dispersion characteristics of optical waveguide with helical winding at core-cladding interface have been obtained for five different pitch angles. This paper includes dispersion characteristics of optical waveguide with helical winding, and ...
full textExperimental investigation for wake of the circular cylinder by attaching different number of tripping wires
An experimental study is conducted on flow past a circular cylinder fitted with some tripping wires on its surface. The work investigates the dependency of the critical wire locations on the wire size and Reynolds numbers, and examines the wake and vortex shedding characteristics in an effort to advance the understanding of the critical wire effects beyond the existing literature. The primary a...

Car body lightening and crashworthiness are two important objectives of car design. Due to their excellent performance, composite materials are extensively used in the car industries. In addition, reducing the weight of vehicle is effective in decreasing the fuel consumption. Hat shape energy absorber is used in car’s doors for side impact protection. The aim of these numerical models and expe...
full textDesign and Manufacturing of Jet to free Stream Simulator to Experimental Study of Interaction of Oblique Jet in Crossflow
The study of interactions of jet into cross flow at different longitudinal and transverse angles of jet was studied. The following components were designed and constructed: a low velocity wind tunnel to produce the uniform flow, a flat plate with a traverse injection system to simulate the jet injection, and a spatial rake to measure the total pressure. The tests were carried out at longitudina...
full textThe Pattern of Ground Deformations due to Circular Tunneling
This paper presents the results of a recent study about the following aspects relevant to tunneling in soft grounds:e) The domain of deformations due to tunneling in soft ground can be specified within a boundary of a parabolic shape. This boundary is defined by a parabolic formula as a function of a central angle which depends on the soil type i.e., either cohesive or cohesionless. This para...
