Evaluation of the Iranian academic library collections based on the Standards of Iran University Libraries (SIUL) standards

Introduction and background: This paper deals with evaluation of libraries of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz based on "Standards of Iran University Libraries" (SIUL). Objective: The research objective is to clarify the current status of the resources of those libraries based on abovementioned standards in a fifteen-year period. Methodology: For evaluation of resources of university libraries, checklist has been used which was prepared based on SIUL. Data collection of libraries' resources has been done using integrative web-based software of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz libraries (AZARSA) and interview with librarians, the statistics related to inventory of the libraries under investigation, the statistics related to number of faculty members and students in 2018. Results: The results of study indicate that the conformity percentage of all libraries of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz in 2018 has reached 17% and increased up to 2% compared to 2004 which could promise ascending growth trend of resources in libraries of this university; however, this should be noted that there is a big gap to achieve standard level.
