Evaluation of Nurses' Belief of Pain in Patient Children

Background & Aim: Pain is one of the most common symptoms of hospitalized children and its evaluation and management as the fifth vital symptom is one of the important health care challenges that various factors such as misconceptions and misconceptions of care providers, especially nurses It is involved. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate nurses' beliefs about pain in children.. Material & Method: This is a review study aimed at assessing the nurses' perception of pain in patient's children. The data from this study was collected from the PubMed and Science Direct databases and the Google scholar and Sid site. Comprehensive search was performed with a combination of keywords "nurses' beliefs", "pain", "children" and "patients." Finally, 21 articles were obtained, 8 papers were selected based on the criteria for entering and leaving the research. Results: The results showed that two important factors in the formation of beliefs, knowledge, and attitude of nurses, which ultimately lead to nurses' performance toward the study and management of pain in children. Based on this, the findings indicated low knowledge of nurses as well as their negative attitude towards pain perception, use of opioids and fear of addiction that caused inadequate management of pain in children. Other results also showed that cultural factors are also important factors in the formation of nurses' beliefs about pain management. Conclusion Although nurses 'experience and belief in pediatric pain is an important issue in pain management, but for better control of pain, there is a need for nurses' knowledge enhancement. Therefore, continuous training courses should be offered to pediatric therapists.
