Abstract:

Background and purpose: Increased production of free radicals occurs due to intense and unconventional physical activity. The present study aimed at evaluating the effect of six weeks of high intensity interval training and Matcha green tea on some cellular oxidants (MDA) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in women. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental applied research was performed in 48 untrained women aged 25-35 years in Tehran, Iran. They were randomly divided into four groups, including supplement (n=12), exercise (n=12), supplement + exercise (n=12), and placebo (n=12). High intensity interval training was performed for six weeks at 85% - 95% maximum heart rate. The supplement groups consumed two capsules of Matcha tea (500 mg) orally daily. MDA and GPX measurements were done using 5mL of blood sampling from the brachial vein at pre-test and post-test stages. Data analysis was carried out in SPSS V23. Results: In current study, high intensity interval training had no significant effect on MDA and GPX indices in inactive women (P>0.05). But, consumption of Matcha tea alone and with exercise showed significant effects on reducing MDA and increasing GPX in women (P< 0.05). Conclusion: It seems that consuming Matcha green tea alongside high intensity interval training in short term can have effects on oxidative stress and antioxidant capacity.

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...

The Effects of a High-Intensity Interval Training on Plasma Levels of Orexin-A and Insulin Resistance in Overweight Women

Background and Aim: Orexin is a hormone involved inoverweight and obesity and a regulator of glucose metabolism. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on plasma levels of orexin-A (OXA) and insulin resistance in overweight women. Materials and Methods: In a semi-experimental study, 24 overweight women (aged 20-25 years; body mass in...

Effects of Sucrose Consumption after High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the Plasma Levels of Irisin, Insulin, and Glucose in Overweight and Obese Women

Introduction: Irisin is secreted in response to exercise training, with strong metabolic effects on the muscle and fat tissue. On the other hand, consumption of sugary drinks is one of the main causes of overweight and insulin resistance, which seems to disrupt the secretion of irisin. This study aimed to investigate the effect of sucrose consumption following a high-intensity interval training...

The effect of 2 months of high-intensity interval training on serum levels of glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in male schizophrenic patients

Introduction: Oxide stress is important in the pathology of schizophrenia especially in the brain and it is higher than normal in these patients. In this study, we investigated the effect of intense intermittent exercise on serum glutathione and malondialdehyde in male schizophrenic patients. Materials and Methods: 28 male schizophrenic patients with a mean age of 39 years who were under th...
