Effects of different levels of Quillaja Saponin supplementation on growth and feed performance, digestive enzymes activity, nonspecific immunity and culture water quality of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) in Biofloc system

Authors

Abstract:

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different levels of dietary Quillaja saponin on the growth performence, digestive enzymes, water quality, and immune response of common carp in biofloc system. The fish (8.06 ± 0.59 g) were fed diets containing 0 (BC), 15 (BS1), 30 (BS2), and 60 (BS3) mg/kg saponin powder for 60 days. The growth performance and protease were significantly higher in the fish fed with a saponin diet in biofloc environment (P< 0.05) while no significant effects on Food conversion ratio and lipase enzyme (P> 0.05). Total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) concentration was significantly lower in the saponin-fed groups than in the control (P< 0.05). The highest serum total immunoglobulin levels, lysozyme, and complement (ACH50) activities were observed in the diet containing saponin powder in biofloc system (P< 0.05). The present results show that Quilaja saponin can be used as a potential feed additive for farmed fish in biofloc system.

Effect of different levels of dietary magnesium nanoparticles on growth, digestive enzymes activity and immune factors of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) under glyphosate exposure

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of magnesium-oxide nanoparticles (nano-Mg) on the growth performance, digestive enzyme activities, and some innate immune parameters in common carp fingerling (Cyprinus carpio). Nano-Mg was added to the experimental basal diets at the rates of 0 (control), 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg. Four groups of fish with an average weight of 12....

The effect of supplementation of feed with exogenous enzymes on the growth of common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Supplementary feed exogenous enzymes have improved the growth rates of various food animals. In thisresearch, the effect of Endofeed W, a multienzyme feed supplement, was investigated on the growth of carp.Accordingly, 134 fish (33.1 ± 0.8 g) were randomly allocated to 4 experimental groups. During the first stageof the experiment (10 days), groups 1-3 received 1, 2 and 3 g Endofeed W per kg di...
