Effectiveness of purposeful-based multi-family group therapy on problematic behavior in adolescents

Abstract:
Much of the adolescent treatment focuses on family processes and one of the approaches adopted by clinicians is multi family group therapy. The aim of this study was assessment of effectiveness of purposeful based multi-family group therapy on problematic behavior of adolescents. Research communication was all of girl and boy junior students of governmental schools of Bojnord. Sample of study was 22 students that have iterance factors that randomly replace in experimental, control and sham control groups. Youth self-report was used for gathering the data of study. Data that obtained of questionnaire in pre-test, post-test and follow up was analyzed by analysis of variance with repeated measure. Results showed that adolescents in experimental group that receive the purposeful based multi-family group therapy program in comparison with sham-control and control group, had a lower scores in internalizing and externalizing behavior scales (P<0/01). This results showed that Purposeful based multi-family group therapy compared with typical multi-family groups, by correct the style of parent-adolescent relationship and education of purposeful parenting, can reduce the problematic behavior in adolescents.
