Effect of Foliar Application of Gibberellin, Benzyladenin and Ethanol on quantitative ‎and qualitative traits in Zontledechia ethiopica.‎

This research was carried out to evaluate the effect of spraying different concentrations of Gibberellin (GA3), Benzyladenin (BA) and Ethanol on growth and flowering of Zontledechia ethiopica. Experiments were carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications in greenhouse and with 12 spraying treatments include: GA3 (500, 250, 100 and 1000 mg L-1), BA (100, 200 and 500 mg L-1) and ethanol (20, 40 and 60% v/v) and control (distilled water) were evaluated. The highest height of cut-flowering and vase life were observed in 1000 mg L-1 GA3 treatment. The highest length and diameter of spathe and plant height were observed in 500 mg L-1 GA3. The highest height of overlapping part of spathe, length and width leaf were observed in mg L-1 GA3. Ethanol treatment 20% had a significant effect on spathe length, height of overlapping part of spathe, spadix, leaf length, leaf number, total chlorophyll, cartenoid and chlorophyll a. Foliar application of different levels of ethanol had a significant effect on vegetative and physiological traits. Different levels of BA had no significant effect on quantitative and qualitative traits in calla lily. Therefore, due to the positive effect of ethanol and GA3 on the growth of vegetative growth and physiological traits in calla lily, their recommended.
