Abstract:

In order to study on different methods of application of polyamines (putrescine, spermine, spermidine) on some morphological, physiological, enzymatic and vase life of Rosa hybrida cv. ‘Dolce Vita’, experiment was conducted as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with 32 treatments, 3 replicates and each replication containing 5 vases, a total of 480 vases were executed. First factor was, putrescine, spermine, spermidine (50, 100 mg/l) and second factor was 4 methods of uses (pre-harvest spray, postharvest spray, 24 hrs pulse and continuous). We are 2 blanks in this experiment: distilled water and 3 % sucrose + 3 mg l-1 nanosilver. Morphological, physiological and enzymatic traits such as relative fresh weight, cell membrane stability index, anthocyanin of petals, total chlorophyll of leaves, protein, phenylalanine ammonia- lyase and superoxide dismutase enzymes activity and vase life were measured. The results showed that Spm100 mg/l in pre-harvest spray method had the highest rates in protein, activity of phenylalanine ammonia- lyase and superoxide dismutase enzymes. Therefore, according to the results of this study, the method of pre-harvest spraying of polyamines can be recommended as the best way to improve morphological, physiological, enzymatic and vase life of Rosa hybrida cv. ‘Dolce Vita’.

Impact of Exogenous Spermine Application on the Vase Life of Cut Rose Flowers ‘Dolce Vita’

Senescence is an integral part of the normal developmental cycle of plants and can be traced in cell, tissue and organ level. This work was focused on the efficiency of post-harvest treatment with the free polyamine spermine (Spm) to extend the vase life of cut rose flowers as an anti-senescence compound. Spm treatment was applied at the rates of 0, 1, 2 and 4 mM. Some morphological, biochemica...

Investigation of some growth and biochemical and post-harvest characteristics of Rosa hybrida cv. Avalanche cut flower using combined application of sodium nitroprusside and putrescine

Rose with scientific name Rosa hybrida is one of the important ornamental plants and one of the 10 top cut flowers in the world. To investigate the effects of foliar application of sodium nitroprusside (as nitric oxide source) and putrescine on some growth and flowering characteristics of Rose ‘Avalanche’, an experiment was conducted  as a factorial trial in a completely randomized design with ...

Improvement in vase life of cut rose cv. “Dolce Vita” by preharvest foliar application of calcium chloride and salicylic acid

Rosa hybrida L. is an important commercial cut flower. Salicylic acid (SA) and calcium chloride (CaCl2) act as endogenous signal molecules responsible for growth parameters in plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of preharvest SA and CaCl2 treatments in extending the vase life of cut rose flowers. Therefore, a factorial experiment based on completely randomized design with ...

Effects of sodium nitroprusside on improving the vase life of Rosa hybrida cvs. Utopia and Dolce Vita

In order to investigate the postharvest effect of sodium nitroprusside on vase life of cut rose, Utopia and Dolce Vita cultivars, an experiment was conducted as factorial in a completely randomized design with three factors and six replications. The first factor was included two cultivars of cut flowers of rose.  The second factor was four concentrations of sodium nitroprusside 0 (control) 20, ...
