Crystallization Kinetics and Characterization of Nanostructure Mica Glass-Ceramics with Optical Transparency
Authors
Abstract:
Transparent glasses in a system of Li2O-MgO-SiO2-Al2O3-Fchemical constituents were prepared by melt quenching method. In the fabrication of nanocrystal glass-ceramics, controlled nucleation and subsequent crystal growth were necessary to avoid loss of transparency. It was therefore important to understand thermal properties and crystallization kinetics of the glass ceramics. The crystallization behavior of the prepared glass was investigated by DTA, XRD and SEM. By crystallization heat-treatment, various crystalline phases, microstructure and transmittance were obtained. The sellaite was first precipitated as the nuclei before the crystallization of mica and then mica nanocrystals were precipitated with average size of

In order to fabrication of transparent glass-ceramics with Li-mica nano crystals, the glasses with chemical composition of 94.9 mass% Li(1+x)Mg3AlSi3(1+x)F2 (x=0.5) with 5.1 mass% MgF2 were crystallized. The glasses were fabricated via the conventional melt-quenching technique. Mica crystals were precipitated in the glass phase by later heat treatment. Glass samples had glass transition tempera...
full textinfluence of heat treatment on crystallization and transparency of glass-ceramics containing lithium-mica nanocrystals
in this study, the preparation of transparent glass-ceramics with lithium-mica nanocrystals by melting-quenching method was investigated. the effect of heat treatment time and temperature on the crystalline phases, microstructure and transparency of the samples were studied. in order to obtain a fine microstructure, an optimum condition for heat treatment has been found to be very important in ...

full textThe Crystallization Effect on the Optical Properties of Oxyfluoride Glass-Ceramics Containing CaF2 Nanocrystals Doped with Y3+ Ions
In the present study, the oxyfluoride glasses of SiO2-Al2O3-CaF2 system containing different amounts of Y3+ ions were prepared through the convenient melting method. The crystallization temperatures and size of the CaF2 nanocrystals were obtained from DTA curves and XRD patterns, respectively. As a consequence, the optimum amount...
full textInvestigation of crystallization and sinterability properties of BaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics containing K2O and B2O3
BaO -SiO2-Al2O3 glass ceramics containing K2O and B2O3 were prepared using conventional melting of powered batches, quenching in water and crystallization of sintered glass. XRD patterns introducehexacelsian and celsian as two major crystallized phases in sintered glass-ceramics. Presence of K2O enhances crystallization of hexacelsianin comparison withB2O3.Observations showed sintering temperat...
