Comparison of the Childhood Trauma, Mindfulness Attention Awareness and Integrative Self Knowledge in Cancer Patients and General Population

Background: This study organized in purpose of comparing childhood trauma, integrative self knowledge and mindfulness attention awareness ic patients with cancer and typical cases.  Methods: This descriptive analytical study was conducted on 139 patients with cancer and 139 typical cases referred to Firoozgar hospital and Samar NGO who were selected by convenience samoling method. Contributers were asked to complete integrative self-knowledge(ISK), childhood trauma questionnaire(CTQ) and mindfulness attention awareness scale(MAAS). Data analized with descriptive and inferential statistic methods including MANOVA test. Result:  Analysis of findings showed that there is a significant difference between patients with cancer and typical cases in integrative self-knowledge scale(p<0.001) and also these patients have different amount of mindfulness attention awareness significantly(p<0.001). In addition, the amount of childhood trauma is significantly different in two groups(p<0.001). Conclusion: According to the findings of present study, cancer patients have different condition in psychological factor like childhood trauma, integrative self-knowledge and mindfulness attention awareness. In the other word, the experince of childhood trauma in cancer patients is higher than typical cases. While typical cases are higher in integrative self-knowledge scale, either in mindfulness attention awareness. To conclude, we can pay attention to the role of these factors in prevention and treatment process.
