Abstract:

This study aimed to compare the phase changes and morphology of yttria-stabilized zirconium oxide powders (YSZ) synthesized by co-precipitation and molten salt methods. Ammonia precipitating agent was used for the synthesis of YSZ powder by co-precipitation method and a mixture of sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate salts was used as a molten salt in the molten salt method. Samples were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis. The results showed that only the sample prepared with zirconium oxychloride and yttrium nitrate by co-precipitation method had a single phase of yttria-stabilized zirconium oxide with tetragonal crystal lattice and particle size distribution in the range of 30 to 55 nm. The powder synthesized by the molten salt method contained a mixture of zirconia with monoclinic crystal lattice and yttria stabilized zirconia with tetragonal crystal lattice and particle size of 200 nm.

Structure and Magnetic Properties of Oxide Nanoparticles of Fe-Co-Ni Synthesized by Co-Precipitation Method

Oxide nanoparticles of Fe-Co-Ni were prepared in six different compositions by co-precipitation method. The as-synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron microscope (FESEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer  (VSM). It was found that the nanoparticles had mean crystalline size of 30-55 nm and spher...

on the comparison of keyword and semantic-context methods of learning new vocabulary meaning

the rationale behind the present study is that particular learning strategies produce more effective results when applied together. the present study tried to investigate the efficiency of the semantic-context strategy alone with a technique called, keyword method. to clarify the point, the current study seeked to find answer to the following question: are the keyword and semantic-context metho...

investigation of single-user and multi-user detection methods in mc-cdma systems and comparison of their performances

Magnetic Properties of Cobalt Ferrite synthesized by Hydrothermal and Co-precipitation Methods: A Comparative Study

The magnetic properties of calcined cobalt ferrite formed by nano-crystalline powders have been compared by two different methods (co-precipitation and hydrothermal). The structural properties of the produced powders were investigated by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the formation of cobalt ferrite spinel structures is effected by changing me...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Synthesis and characterization of SnO2 nanoparticles by Co-Precipitation method

Tin oxide (SnO2)nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method and the synthesized nanoparticles were annealed at different temperatures for characterization. The powders were investigated with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and optical spectroscopy. The structural characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction which confirms the crystalline nature ...
