Comparative Correlation Between Coping Styles And Short Term Memory In Type1 ,2 Diabet And Healthy Group

Abstract Background:  Diabetes is a major public health problem globally with an increasing disease trend. The Specific problems of patients in the control and treatment of this disease, which is caused great challenges of everyday life using coping behaviors necessary to better adaptability . Stress can interfere with memory by mechanisms that directly affect brain function. Deploying an appropriate stress management strategy can improve short-term memory.The aim of this study was to  correlated between  coping styles and short term memory capacity  in  type1 & 2 diabet and healthy group. Material and Methods: This casual comparative study included on 176 persons (58 healthy persons, 58 patients with type1 diabet and 60 patients with type2 diabet)  The data was obtained by Demographic questionnaire and questionnaire” Coping Inventory of Stressful Situation”(CISS) and computer  test for short term memory assessment.  For data analysis software (SPSS 16) was used. Results: The results showed  positively correlated between short term memory capacity and  mental capacity with task style in healthy group(p<0/01)and negative correlated between short term memory capacity and  mental capacity with evoid and emotion styles in type1 and2 diabetes. Conclusion: The results showed that increase short term memory capacity and mental capacity in healthy group when use task style. So decrease short term memory capacity , mental capacity in type1 and2 diabetes when use emotion and avoid styles. Therefore, by controlling the stressful situations and training to apply a suitable strategy in a critical condition, the performance of these patients can be improved.
