This study aimed to investigate the severity of burnout among nurses working in COVID-19 wards in Shahid Beheshti Hospital of Kashan in 2020. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2020 on 372 nurses working in the clinical wards of Shahid Beheshti Hospital of Kashan, Iran. A two-part questionnaire was used for data collection. The first part consisted of demographic questions and the second part was the Maslach burnout inventory (MBI). Findings: Of 372 nurses who participated in this study the mean overall occupational burnout was 45.16±22.84 that shows burnout at a moderate level. The mean occupational burnout was significantly higher in nurses over the age of 30 (P< 0.01), in males (P=0.05), and in nurses working in operating rooms (P<0.001). Conclusion: Nurses suffer from a moderated burnout that since the duration of the epidemic is unpredictable, is essential to provide welfare and support measures to relieve burnout in healthcare providers and especially in nurses.
