Abstract:

Various polymorphisms on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOs) gene cause reduced production of NO, the endothelial relaxing factor, and may accelerate the process of atherosclerosis. The study designed to investigate the frequency of T-786C polymorphism of the eNOs gene in patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) in north-west of Iran. One hundred twenty subjects including 60 patients with angiographically diagnosed CAD and 60 age and sex matched CAD-free subjects as control were studied. The levels of nitric oxide in the samples were measured with the Griess Method. The genotype studies were carried using allele specific PCR. Comparing with the control, reduced levels of NO were noticed in the patient group (P

Association of endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T polymorphism with type two diabetes and diabetic nephropathy

Background: Nitric oxide (NO) produced by endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) mediates a large range of processes, and abnormality in the production of NO has been implicated in diabetic complications including diabetic nephropathy (DN). G894T polymorphism in the eNOS gene has been shown to decreased activity the NO levels of plasma. The association between eNOS Glu298Asp gene polymorphism and DN ri...

The Study of Nitric Oxide Synthase 3 (NOS3) T-786C and 4a4b Gene Polymorphism in Iranian Men with Varicocele

Background and Objectives: Varicocele is one of the most common causes of male infertility. Varicocele is an abnormal dilatation and tortuosity of veins of the pampiniform plexus, which drain the testis. Studies have shown that elevated level of oxidative stress markers, such as nitric oxide (NO) in the dilated veins of patients with varicocele impair testicular function. The aim of this study,...
