Abstract:

This study was aimed to monitor water pullution of Uzuncayir Dam Lake using the changes of IL-6, IL1β and TNF-α levels in Capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) liver tissue at ten stations in March and September 2011. In this study C. umbla (Heckel, 1843) was used as the indicator organism. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interlekuin1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were determined in samples of the liver tissue by ELISA kit. The lowest mean IL-1β levels were found at station 6. The mean IL-1β was reached its maximum level at station 2. The difference between the mean levels of IL-6 was found to be significant (p<0.05) amoung stations. The IL-6 levels were significantly increased in September at stations 1, 2, 7 and 8 (p<0.01) compared to the values in March. The mean levels of TNF-α were found to be significant (p<0.05) amoung stations. The TNF-α levels significantly decreased in September at stations 1 and 9 (p<0.01). TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 levels in C. umbla can be used as early diagnostic indicators against adverse environmental events and useful and reliable bioindicators in determining the pollution of the aquatic ecosystem

Predictive values of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10 for radiation pneumonitis

Background: To investigate the expression of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10 in the plasma of patients with lung cancer who received radiation therapy (RT), and to analyze the correlation between these cytokines and radiation pneumonitis (RP). Materials and Methods: Patients with lung cancer who received 3D-CRT in our hospital were prospectively evaluated. Circulating cytokine levels were measured wit...

MODULATION OF INTERLEUKIN-1Β (IL-1Β ), TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR–Α (TNF-Α) AND INTERLEUKIN-10 (IL-10 ) GENES EXPRESSION FOLLOWING CONCURRENT TRAINING IN WOMEN WITH TYPE2 DIABETES

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of concurrent training on pre-inflammatory (IL-1β, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory (IL-10) cytokines gene expression in women with type2 diabetes. Methods: 18-patients (age30-38, >130 glycemic index) were selected, randomly, and divided into control (n=6) the concurrent training(diabetes, n=6) and the concurrent training (healthy...

Expression of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and iNOS in pregnant women with periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease is one of the most prevalent oral diseases. An association between this disease and pregnancy has been suggested, but available findings are controversial. We evaluated the expression levels of interleukins (IL-1β and IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in pregnant women with and without periodontal disease in comparison wit...

Blood Serum Levels of IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α and IL-1β in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

Cytokines are essential mediators of immune response and inflammatory reactions. Patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) commonly present with abnormalities of immune function related with impaired kidney function and the accumulation of uremic toxins in addition to bioincompatibility of dialyzer membranes. During a hemodialysis (HD) session, cytokines are released mainly by monocytes activat...

the effect of aerobic exercise training on serum levels of tnf-α, il - 1β, il-6 and hsp70 in rats

extra-cellular levels (serum) of heat shock protein 70 is influenced by various stressors such as exercise and it has been shown that this protein affects the proinflammatory cytokines in human and animal samples. the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of endurance training on serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines (tnf-?, il-1?, il-6 and hsp70) in trained and untrained rats. fo...
