بررسی شاخص‌های بهداشت محیط و ایمنی مدارس استان مازندران

Introduction & purpose: students spend important period of their life at school that coincided with their physical and mental growing. So health services including school environmental health has a positive impact on the health of students and, ultimately, society. Therefore according to the importance of the subject, the aim of this study is investigating the environmental health status among schools in Mazandaran province in 2012. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study. All elementary schools, middle and high schools in both urban and rural schools were selected using census method. Data were collected using a questionnaire of schools environmental health regulation through visit, direct observation and interview with principals. The data was analyzed using Excel-2007. Results: The results of this research revealed that 90% of drinking fountain, lavatory and toilets were sanitary. Water hygiene, Classes Status, safety and safekeeping status, wastewater disposal and solid waste collection and disposal was favorable. But only 35.6% of urban schools buffet and 46.6% of rural schools buffet of Mazandaran province were hygienic. Conclusion: conditions of schools is relatively desirable, But conditions of more than 50% of schools buffet is inappropriate. Thus due to the role of healthy nutrition in protecting of students health, prevention is essential to fix the schools buffet shortcomings.
