چکیده

l. The vitellins or yolk proteins of four species of weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) consist of two size classes with molecular weights of 150-170 and 4247 kilo daltons (kDa). 2. The ho11 weevil, Anrhonomus grandis, has one large vitellin while Smicronyx fulvus, S. sordidus, and Cylindrocopturus adpersus each have two large vitellins. 3. All four weevils have a single small vitellin whose size differs with genera. 4. In all four species both large and small vitellins contain N-linked glycosyl groups. 5. Enzymatic removal of the N-linked glycosyl chains lowers the molecular weight of the vitellins 9-17%.

Species composition and geographic distribution of Fuegian Curculionidae (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea)

The objective of this paper is to provide an integrative approach to taxonomic composition and distributional information on the weevil fauna (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. A total of 39 species belonging to 17 Curculionidae genera are recorded for the archipelago. Most of these belong to two subfamilies: Entiminae (13 species in four genera) and Cyclominae (2...

Susceptibility of the filbertworm (Cydia latiferreana, Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) and filbert weevil (Curculio occidentalis, Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to entomopathogenic nematodes.

The objective of this study was to determine the susceptibility of the two primary direct insect pests of hazelnuts in Oregon to three species of entomopathogenic nematodes. The entomopathogenic nematodes (Heterorhabditis marelatus Pt. Reyes, Steinernema carpocapsae All and Steinernema kraussei L137) were used in laboratory soil bioassays to determine their virulence against filbertworm, Cydia ...

Molecular diagnostic for boll weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) based on amplification of three species-specific microsatellites.

The boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis grandis Boheman (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is a serious pest of cultivated cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L., in the Americas, and reinfestation of zones from which they have been eradicated is of perpetual concern. Extensive arrays of pheromone traps monitor for reintroductions, but occasionally the traps collect nontarget weevils that can be misidentified by ...

The objective of this paper is to provide an integrative approach to species composition and distributional information on the weevil fauna of Islas Malvinas (Falkland Islands). A total of 22 species belonging to 11 Curculionidae genera are recorded for the archipelago. Four of these genera belong to Entiminae (i.e., Caneorhinus, Cylydrorhinus, Malvinius, and Morronia) and the remaining seven b...
