چکیده

Mobile agents are programs which ship themselves from one machine to another, at programmer defined points. Agents which move between machines, with their execution states, are said to perform strong migration. Such agents form an interesting paradigm for developing distributed applications. The key issue in strong migration is the transmission of execution states of agents. We propose STRING, which is an approach to capture and re-establish the execution state of mobile agents programmed in Java, without any modifications to the Java virtual machine. Our approach instruments the original source code and the resultant byte code to achieve the capture and reestablishment of the execution state of mobile agents at a language level. Though our current prototype implementation of STRING has been used for providing a programming and runtime environment for mobile agents, it can be easily extended for any Java program.

Dynamic Configuration of Agent Migration Protocols for the Internet

This paper presents a framework for building network protocols for migrating mobile agents over the Internet. The framework allows network protocols for agent migration to be naturally implemented within mobile agents and then dynamically deployed at network hosts by migrating the agents that perform the protocols. It is built on a hierarchical mobile agent system, called MobileSpaces, and seve...

Network Processing of Mobile Agents, by Mobile Agents, for Mobile Agents

This paper presents a framework for building network protocols for migrating mobile agents over a network. The framework allows network protocols for agent migration to be naturally implemented within mobile agents and to be constructed in a hierarchy as most data transmission protocols are. These protocols are given as mobile agents and they can transmit other mobile agents to remote hosts as ...

Andante: A Mobile Musical Agents Infrastructure

In the last decade, researchers in the area of distributed systems created the concept of mobile agents: active, autonomous objects capable of executing computation in a computer network, migrating from node to node. We propose the use of this new concept and related technology for the creation and performance of music within a distributed computing environment. In this paper, we introduce Anda...

Application-Specific Routing for Mobile Agents

An approach for building application-specific protocols for migrating mobile agents over a network is presented. The approach has two key ideas. One is to introduce mobile agents as first-class objects. The other is to build and deploy network protocols for agent migration as mobile agents, which allows network protocols for agent migration to be naturally implemented within mobile agents and t...

Hierarchically Structured Mobile Agents and their Migration

This paper presents a framework for mobile agents. The framework is unique among other mobile agent systems in structuring mobile agents hierarchically. The framework provides the notion of agent hierarchy, in which each mobile agent can be a container of other mobile agents. We construct a prototype implementation of this framework. It is built on the Java language and mobile agents are given ...
