Common Bacteria Encountered in Septic Arthritis

Antibiotic selection is an important decision in the treatment of horses with septic arthritis, yet antibiotic therapy is usually started before culture and susceptibility results are known. Therefore, knowledge of the most common bacteria associated with equine musculoskeletal infections and their probable antimicrobial susceptibility patterns is a necessity.
