چکیده

We present a study of the critical phenomena around the quantum critical point in heavy-fermion systems. In the framework of the S = 1/2 Kondo lattice model, we introduce an extended decoupling scheme of the Kondo interaction which allows one to treat the spin fluctuations and the Kondo effect on an equal footing. The calculations, developed in a self-consistent one-loop approximation, lead to the formation of a damped collective mode with a dynamic exponent z = 2 in the case of an antiferromagnetic instability. The system displays a quantum-classical crossover at finite temperature depending how the energy of the mode, on the scale of the magnetic correlation length, compares to k B T. The low temperature behavior, in the different regimes separated by the crossover temperatures, is then discussed for both 2-and 3-dimensional systems.

Spin Dynamics near the Quantum Critical Point of Heavy-Fermions

The dynamical spin susceptibility is studied in the magnetically-disordered phase of heavy-Fermion systems near the antiferromagnetic quantum phase transition. In the framework of the S = 1/2 Kondo lattice model, we introduce a perturbative expansion treating the spin and Kondo-like degrees of freedom on an equal footing. The general expression of the dynamical spin susceptibility that we deriv...

d-wave superconductivity in the frustrated two-dimensional periodic Anderson model

Superconductivity in heavy-fermion materials can sometimes appear in the incoherent regime and in proximity to an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point. Here, we study these phenomena using largescale determinant quantum Monte Carlo simulations and the dynamical cluster approximation with various impurity solvers for the periodic Anderson model with frustrated hybridization. We obtain solid ...

Critical quasiparticle theory applied to heavy fermion metals near an antiferromagnetic quantum phase transition.

We use the recently developed critical quasiparticle theory to derive the scaling behavior associated with a quantum critical point in a correlated metal. This is applied to the magnetic-field induced quantum critical point observed in YbRh(2)Si(2), for which we also derive the critical behavior of the specific heat, resistivity, thermopower, magnetization and susceptibility, the Grüneisen coef...

Heavy-fermion quantum criticality and destruction of the Kondo effect in a nickel oxypnictide.

A quantum critical point arises at a continuous transformation between distinct phases of matter at zero temperature. Studies in antiferromagnetic heavy-fermion materials have revealed that quantum criticality has several classes, with an unconventional type that involves a critical destruction of the Kondo entanglement. To understand such varieties, it is important to extend the materials basi...
