Embedding DEV&DESS in DEVS: Characteristic Behaviors of Hybrid Models
نویسنده
چکیده
Several formalisms have been defined to represent combined continuous and discrete event simulation models. In the “Theory of Modeling and Simulation” the DEV&DESS formalism was shown to have the properties expected from a universal representation of such models. Also it was shown that DEVS can provide accurate simulations of DESS (Differential Equation Specified System) models. In this paper, we elucidate the characteristic primitives needed to express hybrid or combined continuous/discrete event models.

Embedding DEV&DESS in DEVS
DEV&DESS was defined to represent combined continuous and discrete model event simulation models and was shown to have the properties expected from a universal representation of such models in “Theory of Modeling and Simulation.” Also in that theory, it was shown that DEVS can provide accurate simulations of DESS models. In this paper, we offer a proof that DEVS on its own is capable of accurat...
متن کاملImplementation of Hybrid Systems Described by DEV&DESS in the QSS Based Simulator PowerDEVS
In this article, a method for implementing hybrid models, formulated as DEV&DESS, in the QSS based simulator PowerDEVS is presented. PowerDEVS is actually a pure DEVS simulator. However, it is specialised for simulating continuous Models (DESS) using QSS (Quantized State System) to translate them into discrete event models (DEVS). Therefore, it is perfectly suited for the simulation of hybrid m...
متن کاملHybrid co-simulation of FMUs using DEV&DESS in MECSYCO
Co-simulation is a key tool in the design and operation of a growing number of complex cyber-systems. But efficiently yet accurately combining continuous time components (such as FMUs) with event-based ones can be challenging, both from a modeling perspective and an operational, tools-oriented one. We propose a platform to tackle this problem building up on MECSYCO, a MAS-based DEVS wrapping pl...
متن کاملFormal Verification of DEV&DESS Formalism Using Symbolic Model Checker HyTech
A hybrid system is a dynamical system reacting to continuous and discrete changes simultaneously. Many researchers have proposed modeling and verification formalisms for hybrid systems, but algorithmic verification of important properties such as safety and reachability is still an on-going research area. This paper demonstrates that a basic modeling formalism for hybrid systems, DEV&DESS is an...
متن کاملAn approach to a hybrid software process simulation using the DEVS formalism
This article proposes an approach to a hybrid software process simulation modeling (SPSM) using discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism, which implements the dynamic structure and discrete characteristics of the software development process. Many previous researchers on hybrid SPSM have described both discrete and continuous aspects of the software development process to provide mo...
