چکیده

New differentially coherent detectors for acquisition of direct sequence spread-spectrum signals are introduced. These detectors are alternatives to the noncoherent detectors that have been considered almost exclusively in the past. The proposed detectors are suitable for commercial code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems which operate with a relatively large noise floor and provide a surprisingly large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement over the noncoherent detectors of approximately 5 dB. Under the random code sequence assumption, an exact analysis of the differentially coherent detection performance for both full period correlation (FPC) and partial period correlation (PPC) is carried out. The detector performance in terms of detection and false alarm probabilities for both partial and full period correlations is investigated, and the results are compared with those of classical noncoherent detection. The mean acquisition time for both single-dwell and multiple-dwell acquisition schemes are compared with their noncoherent counterparts.

A Novel Differentially Coherent PN Code Acquisition Technique for DS-CDMA Mobile Communications

Abstract—Code synchronization is a critical step for fast and reliable code search in directsequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) system. In this paper, we propose a novel differentially coherent (DC) detection scheme for rapid code acquisition over a fast Rayleigh fading mobile radio channel with frequency offset, and compare the performance with the conventional I-Q noncoherent detection scheme. Advanced differentially non-coherent code acquisition in jamming and data modulation

In this paper we consider differentially non-coherent code timing acquisition in Direct-Sequence Code-Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) communication system. Recently, an advanced method for differentially non-coherent acquisition, DCMUSIC, was proposed and noticed to combine the benefits of both conventional differentially non-coherent matched filter and traditional MUSIC estimator in a meani...

Serial acquisition performance of single-carrier and multicarrier DS-CDMA over Nakagami-m fading channels

In this paper, we investigate the issue of pseudo noise (PN) code acquisition in single-carrier and multicarrier (MC) direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems, when the channel is modeled by frequency-selective Nakagamifading. The PN code acquisition performance of single-carrier and MC DS-CDMA systems is analyzed and compared when communicating over Nakagamifading channe...

Code acquisition in coherent optical pulse CDMA systems utilizing coherent correlation demodulation

A code acquisition technique based on active optical correlation detection is introduced for coherent optical pulse code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems implemented through coherent correlation demodulation. Passive matched filter acquisition, commonplace in most radio CDMA systems, does not translate directly into the optical domain since synchronization between the incoming optical si...

Differentially coherent code acquisition in the MIMO-aided multi-carrier DS-CDMA downlink

Both differentially coherent and non-coherent code acquisition schemes designed for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-aided multi-carrier (MC)-DS-CDMA downlink are analysed, when communicating over uncorrelated Rayleigh channels. The attainable mean acquisition time (MAT) performance is studied as a function of both the number of multiple transmit/multiple receive antennas and that of t...
