Validating an Evaluation Framework for Requirements Engineering Tools
نویسنده
چکیده
Automated support for the requirements engineering (RE) process is a recognized research area. However the mainstream practice still relies on word processors and drawing tools rather than the requirements engineering tools (RETs). The aim of this paper is to validate an evaluation framework for RETs. The validation process concerns a RET acquisition process for concrete organizational needs. An observation of maintaining requirements specification shows the important organizational and environmental characteristics for a proper automated support of RE process. The contribution of this work is twofold: first, the validation of the evaluation framework for RETs according to environmental needs in a specific environment, and second the identification of environmental needs, which emerge from requirements specification maintenance process.

Evaluation Framework for Tools that Manage Requirements Inconsistency
Management of inconsistency in requirements is an important but effort intensive task. Automated tools promise greater reliability and less effort. However, after review of a number of surveys of current commercial requirements engineering tools we found that while some forms of inconsistency are considered in the evaluations, such as version control and spell checking, the surveys themselves d...
متن کاملSpecifiying and Validating Requirements: The VENUS System
Requirements specification and validation is recognized as a crucial part of the information systems Υ development process. This paper presents the VENUS integrated environment for requirements engineering. The underlying conceptual framework of VENUS combines the entity-relationship, object-oriented and rule-based paradigms for data and behaviour modelling. VENUS tools enable systems analysts ...
متن کاملDesign Process and Tools for the HW/SW-Codesign and Rapid-Prototyping of Parallel and Heterogeneous Real-Time Communication Systems1
Based on the methodology for the development of communication systems, a framework for early performance evaluation and hardware/software codesign of such systems is presented. We describe how performance requirements can be formulated in a formal way during the analysis phase of a project and how these requirements are used by the synthesis tools for hardware/software codesign during the desig...
متن کاملEvaluation Criteria for Requirements Engineering Process Improvement Models and Frameworks
Several researchers initiated their work of models and framework development by creating evaluation criteria (also called success criteria or quality aspects). These criteria not only guided development but also were used to help evaluate their models and frameworks. This paper reviews Boehm’s evaluation criteria for assessing a cost model, Beecham’s success criteria for validating a Requiremen...
متن کاملEliciting and prioritizing quality requirements supported by ontologies: a case study using the ElicitO framework and tool
As software complexity grows and clients demand higher quality software, quality requirements can no longer be considered to be of secondary importance. Thus eliciting, specifying, prioritising and validating quality requirements is a pre-requisite to the development of effective and efficient information systems. Despite the critical importance of quality requirements, there is a considerable ...
